VINCENT PETERS - TIMELESS TIME

On June 28, one of the most visited photographic exhibitions of the year begins at Palazzo Albergati in Bologna, a journey made of shadows, reflections and chiaroscuro, in a succession of well-known faces made familiar by the use of light. It's called "Timeless Time" and is a journey through the iconic and timeless shots of the German photographer Vincent Peters. It is a selection of ninety black and white works in which light is the protagonist in defining emotions and telling the stories of the subjects portrayed and their intimate ability to reflect beauty. Christian Bale, Monica Bellucci, Vincent Cassel, Laetitia Casta, Penelope Cruz, Cameron Diaz, Angelina Jolie, Gwyneth Paltrow, David Beckham, Scarlett Johansson, Milla Jovovich, John Malkovich, Charlize Theron, Emma Watson and Greta Ferro are just some of the famous people whose portraits are exhibited at Palazzo Albergati in Bologna.

Light is the absolute protagonist in defining emotions and telling the stories of the subjects portrayed. The shots were taken between 2001 and 2021 using impeccable lighting, which elevates his subjects to a position that often transcends their celebrity status. The one portrayed by Vincent Peters is the world of stars and celebrities, a modern Olympus which, dissolving in an atmosphere of Italian neorealist cinema, approaches the gaze of the public, becoming familiar and recognizable. His shots are dreamlike stories, made up of overlapping layers that interact with each other and complement each other. His work, in fact, is characterized by stratification and distinction: each element that converges and condenses in each of his single shots forms a layer that never loses its own identity and distinction. And in the meeting of these singular layers, each image of Peters comes to tell a story. Until it becomes a film in a single frame.
